the sex scenes in blue is the warmest color were clearly shot for the male gaze and have been condemned by julie maroh, who wrote the graphic novel it was based on. the actresses themselves, lea seydoux and adele exarchopoulos, were harassed by the director abdellatif kechiche while filming those scenes, forced to do an excessive amount of takes to the point where it was ‘humiliating’
